Overview
There are several different Logs available in the WebAdmin, (permissions permitting,) that can be used to monitor and troubleshoot their relevant services.
Summary of the various Logs
WebAdmin Log: The WebAdmin Log displays a record of events generated by the WebAdmin. A description of each event is displayed along with additional details including the Date and Time of the event, the User Name, and the IP address of the person who initiated the event. The Policy Group also displays if applicable.
Additionally, you can use the Notifications tab to set up email notifications for WebAdmin Logs as they are generated. Only WebAdmin Logs that match the filters will be emailed.
Category Alerts Log: The Category Alerts Log is a record of the Category Alerts generated by either Deny Pages or the Tools > Category Alerts window.
Policy Log: The Policy Log consists of three tabs, Messages, Errors, and Remote Admin. Each tab contains two subsections, Live and Archive.
- The Messages tab displays a record of the events generated by the Policy Service; such as information on the loading and unloading of modules, the database, and Policy Server Settings.
- The Errors tab displays a record of the error events generated by the Policy Service. This information can be used to help troubleshoot unexpected filtering behavior.
- The Remote Admin tab displays a record of every Remote Admin command (both request and response) made to the Policy service.
Reporter Log: The Reporter log consists of two tabs, Messages and Errors. This is a record of events generated by the Reporter service, including processing of Demand, Scheduled, and Continuous Reports.
Proxy Log: The Proxy Log consists of two tabs, Messages and Errors. This is a record of the events generated by the NSProxy service, including information on loading configurations, as well as proxy names and addresses. This information can be used to help troubleshoot unexpected behaviour with the NSProxy service.
Up2Date Log: The Up2Date Log consists of two tabs, Messages and Errors. This is a record of the events generated by the Up2Date service. This includes information on the loading and unloading of modules and settings.
Directory Sync Log: The Directory Sync Log is a record of events generated during synchronization with your Directory Services server. This includes information on Groups, Users, Organizational Units, and Domain Controllers.
Request Logs: The Request Logs window catches the traffic on each policy server, by polling the Request Logs every second. The viewer displays up to 50 logs per server with the display limit set by the 'Logs Per Page' option in WebAdmin Settings.
