Overview
When enabling External Authentication as the primary method of logging into the WebAdmin, passwords will no longer be supported, as the system will no longer check the database.
Detailed Description
Users encounter an 'Invalid username or password (attempt: X/5)' error when attempting to log in to the Netsweeper WebAdmin, but the username and password entered are correct, the system will fail to authenticate if External Authentication has been configured as the primary login method.
To verify if the External Authentication settings is the cause, and to resolve this issue; follow the below steps to verify and modify the External WebAdmin Authentication settings:
Please Note: The following steps require an Admin Account with the proper permissions.
- Log in to Netsweeper WebAdmin with an Admin-level Account.
- Navigate to Administration > WebAdmin Settings.
- Go to the External WebAdmin Authentication Settings section.
- Verify if the checkbox for Enable External WebAdmin Authentication is selected.
- If that is the case, choose the Secondary Authentication option as the Authentication type.
- After verifying or modifying the settings, select the Submit button to save the changes.
Note: There may be valid reasons why the system was configured in this way. If that is the case, best practice for your organization may be to leave this setting configured as the primary authentication method and to have your users log in with the configured external method.
