What's new in Netsweeper 8.2

Overview

This article outlines new features and functionality in the ‘WebAdmin’ and ‘Profile Manager’ interfaces for the Netsweeper 8.2 Release.

General Functionality

• Create, Import, and Export Icons
  Create tabs, as well as Import and Export buttons have been replaced with Icons throughout the WebAdmin.

General Functionality - New Import and Export Options

• JSON Importing and Exporting
  The JSON format is now enabled for all WebAdmin export and import tools.
• WAgent Settings Import and Export
  Added import and export functionality to the Workstation Agent Settings in the WebAdmin.
• Services and Servers Import and Export
  Import and export functionality has been added to Administration > Services.
• Client Filter Settings Import and Export
  Added import and export functionality to the Client Filter Settings in the WebAdmin.
• Directory Sync Import and Export
  Added import and export functionality to the DirSync server settings for Search Bases.
• Category Templates Import and Export
  Added the ability to import and export Category Templates in Administration > Categories > Templates.
• WebAdmin Settings Import and Export
  We have added import and export functionality to Administration > WebAdmin Settings.
• Additional Import and ExportThere is now the ability to import an export complex objects like Groups, Policies, Lists, Deny Page rules, and Deny Pages.

Accounts

• SysOp email Functionality
  We now allow SysOp users to use the email functionality within the Account Manager.
• New SysOp Permissions
  A series of new SysOp import and export permissions have been added; for Groups, Lists, Reports, Accounts, and Client Filter Settings.
• onGuard Account Permissions
  We have added a series of onGuard Permissions that are available for both Admin and SysOp Accounts.

My Account Preferences

• Access Tokens
  Access Tokens have been added in this release. You can create and manage Access Tokens in My Account > Preferences > Access Tokens.
  
  Access Token support has been added for the WebDB, Directory Sync, the nswcli Tool, WebAdmin API Test, and API Unit Test Suite.

Directory Sync

• Accounts Sync
  Directory Sync will now only add the missing Accounts to the Groups and not replace all Accounts in the Groups during the Sync process.

Reporter

• Merged Create Report types
  We have merged the 'Create Report' and 'Custom Report' functions into 'Simple' and 'Custom.' Each of these features are accessible as separate tabs when using the Create Report window. This applies to both Demand and Scheduled report types.
• Reports Sharing
  The 'Anyone can view this report' ownership option has been replaced with the 'Share with' option.
• Delivery Options
  Utilizing the 'Email Contents' Report Delivery field now supports attachments, allowing both the custom messages and a copy of the Report to be delivered.

Client Filter Settings

1. nUpdate WebAdmin Config
   The nUpdate Config has been added to the Client Filter Settings > Modify Brand > Settings window, in order to support the new upgrade service in Client Filter 11.

• Restrict Platform Option
  The Platform option in Client Filter Brands has been updated to be 'Restrict To Platform' and the option for no restriction is now 'All Platforms.'

WebAdmin Settings

• Encrypted Client Secrets
  Your Microsoft Client Secret and Google Client Secret in Webadmin Settings are now encrypted, and will not be displayed.

• New WebDB Settings
  Added new WebAdmin Settings for WebDB Compression, WebDB Flushing, and WebDB Unbuffered Result. We now allow the Policy Service WebDB download 'Real Time Callback' function to be enabled or disabled as a Policy Service configuration option.
