Potential loss of certificates due to Windows updates

Follow

Summary:

Netsweeper has become aware of a potential issue with Windows updates that can lead to both system and user certificates being lost. This issue can occur when updating a device from Windows 10, (version 1809 or later,) to a more recent version. The loss of these certificates can lead to certificate errors/warnings with secure (HTTPS) websites, specifically in relation to decryption.

We advise that you review the Microsoft release notes (linked at the bottom of this article) to make sure you are able to apply the updates in the correct order, and avoid being exposed to this issue.

If you have already upgraded and have users reporting this issue, it can be resolved by reinstalling your NSProxy certificate.
