Netsweeper 8.1.6 GA Release (Feb. 7, 2023)

Netsweeper services can now be put into persistent core dump mode that will be maintained through service restart by adding 'debug core' to the respective configuration file for the service.

The policy service deny_page_http and deny_page_https now do not use port :8080 by default in the Policy Service configuration.

A new 'Group Expired' Category has been added. This Category is used when the filtering Group is expired.

New WebAdmin Settings 'OnGuard Category Filter' and 'nMonitor Category Filter' which, when set, ensure that the event has at least one of the selected Categories.

New WebAdmin Settings: 'Category Manager for nMonitor' and 'Validate Categories in Category Manger' are added to nMonitor/onGuard configuration that will only send events with nMonitor Categories that are defined and enabled in the Category Manager.

The IPTables service is now exposed by default on a fresh install.

Private networks are now allowed on any port and ICMP (ping) is always allowed from private or public networks.

The Advanced Search Save/Share functionality has been improved.

SSO buttons have been added to the Portal Page template to make sure they are inserted into the right place for SAML Authentication.

The freshnsd update server can now be configured to setup a reverse proxy easily.

The 'letsencrypt' download now creates a localhost.pem so we can easily use it with HAProxy. Customers upgrading to the 8.1 GA release should regenerate their letsencrypt certificates so the new deployment method can be used.

When the 'letsencrypt' certificate 'renews', we now use 'systemctl try-restart nsdctl' to start the Policy Service on the server and not 'restart'.

The Reporter did not start when the mariadb was not running.

Attempting to change the 'General' Category parent group in the Category Editor caused an error and made changes impossible.

The RPM BaseOS packages have been upgraded.

Words of interest for nMonitor matching and underlines (nmonitortest and reporter) could highlight 'e' which is an error case.

The Policy Service would leak a small amount of memory during shutdown when the Capture Modules are configured.

The Up2Date Service for localhost is now enabled on a default install.

There is a new WebAdmin Setting: 'Authenticate Category Alert Requests' that forces the WebAdmin login to send a URL Alert.

The admin Account permission for 'Search Keywords' has been removed. Search Keywords is now permitted through List functionality.

The libsearch parser can match text with query with no match words. This edge case has been resolved. A query like "t.st" could make a word like "t. st" with a space which would return no matched words.

The PF_RING has been upgraded to support the EL 8.7 release.

The bridge module has been upgraded for multicast ethernet passthru.

Email Thresholds in Report Delivery Options showed a zero in the Group field.

The EL8 release of Netsweeper format for /etc/pf_ring/hugepages.conf is "node=0 hugepagenumber=2048" instead of "node=0 hugepages=2048". This caused an error on startup and problems calculating total hugepage memory.

The Category selection popup now allows dynamically selected Categories for chosen 'view by' attribute.

A link 'Change my profile' has been added to the default Deny Page. It links to the WebAdmin URL on the default Deny Page.

Upgrading Netsweeper 7.2.11 el8 to 8.1.5 el8 caused problems with the active iptables file.

A 'Comment' and 'Audit' fields have been added to the 'Services' and 'Add Host' windows.

The security and permission checks have been improved around the admin/list_entry_ajax entry point.

nsupgrade deleted all old log files when upgrading.

The Live Request Log table did not show Screenshots in some cases.

The 'Services' window showed the wrong number of Services enabled.

The Policy Server Live Log tabs did not get the server to poll and show the warning message.

An additional Request header line would display when editing a List item that adds a Request Header in 7.2 and above.

Advanced Filter for Session settings does not filter according to "Value" Column and "Variable value".

The Service tool action items for editing configurations (...) has been moved to the left side of the 'Services' window for easier usability.
