Overview
Within the Directory Sync Settings you can manually prompt for a Complete Sync to be ran which will force a sync to happen. Additionally, you can reduce the sync interval to produce a quicker interval sync for testing.
Directory Synchronization Intervals
The Directory Sync (or DirSync) Service runs automatically on specified intervals. It can be useful for debugging or testing purposes to force the Directory Synchronization to occur. By default the Dirsync Service runs automatically every 10 minutes. To test that the Dirsync Service is operating as expected, it may be necessary to reduce this interval to 60 seconds.
In the WebAdmin go to Tools > Services. Click on the appropriate DirSync host and then click the Directory Sync Settings button. At the top of the 'Directory Sync Settings' page, click the Change Sync Interval button. Select 1 minute from the Sync Interval drop-down menu and click the Change button.
Sync Options
Note that there is a difference between the first sync that occurs (the "complete" or "initial" sync) and every other sync that occurs afterwards ("interval" or "update" sync). In all current version of Netsweeper these two different synchronizations are completely configurable. For testing purposes, it can be helpful to run a complete sync after making changes to these Sync Options.
Log in to the WebAdmin and go to System Tools > Services. Click on the appropriate DirSync host and then click the Directory Sync Settings button. Next to the appropriate Search Base, click the Sync Options button. To change how the complete sync and interval sync function, click the Enable Advanced Options button, update the sync behaviors you want updated and click the Save Options button. To run a complete sync, click the Run a Complete Sync button.
