Overview
Netsweeper 9.1 introduces a number of changes to the WebAdmin interface, particularly around Reporting, Organizations, Request Logs, and general usability.
This article highlights the changes most likely to affect users during normal day-to-day use of Netsweeper.
Updated Organization Selector
The Organization selector has moved to the top-right of WebAdmin.
If your account has access to more than one Organization, you can use this selector to switch between them.
The Organization you select can affect which Groups, Clients, Lists, Reports and other items are visible to you.
If something you previously had access to does not appear after upgrading to 9.1, check that you have selected the correct Organization.
Organization Tree
Organizations can now be arranged in a parent and child structure.
This may mean you see Organizations displayed differently from previous Netsweeper versions.
Users with access to multiple Organizations can navigate between parent and child Organizations using the Organization selector.
Changes to Reporting
Reporting has received several significant interface changes in Netsweeper 9.1.
New Create Report Window
Reports has now moved under Polices on the main Webadmin Dashboard.
The previous Quick Demand and Quick Search Report options have been combined into a new Create Report window.
This provides a simpler starting point when creating a Demand Report.
Users who require additional Report configuration options can select Customize where available.
Report Preview
Some Reports can now display a preview while they are being created.
This allows you to check the expected results before completing and running the full Report.
New Report Charts
Additional Report presentation options are available, including:
- Word Clouds
- Donut Charts
- Card views
- Improved Horizontal Bar Charts
- Grouped Charts with additional drill-down options
Charts have also been improved to make labels and larger sets of results easier to read.
Report Dashboards
Quick Reports and Dashboards are now displayed as separate areas within Report Administration.
Dashboard tiles can also be resized and reordered where supported.
A Date Range option has been added to Report Dashboards, making it easier to change the period being displayed.
Report Field Name Changes
Some Report fields have been renamed to make them easier to understand.
For example:
Policy Group is now displayed as Group Name.
Some IP address fields have also had their names simplified.
Existing Reports should still contain the same type of information, but the field names you see in the interface may be different.
Report Date Selection
The date selector used when creating Reports has been updated.
It now provides improved options for selecting either:
- A single date
- A date range
A Clear option is also available to quickly remove the currently selected dates.
Report Expiration
Reports and Report Templates can now have an expiration date.
Depending on how your Netsweeper environment has been configured, some temporary Reports may therefore be automatically removed after a specified period.
Request Log Export
Request Logs displayed within WebAdmin can now be exported.
This can be useful when collecting information for troubleshooting or when information needs to be reviewed outside WebAdmin.
Export options have also been added to several other Log views.
Additional Request Log Information
Where Client Filter information is available, Request Logs can now show additional details such as:
- Workstation Name
- Client Filter Version
- Platform
This can make it easier to identify which device generated a request when troubleshooting Client Filter issues.
Updated Deny Page Management
Deny Page management has been updated to work more closely with Organizations.
Additional information is also displayed showing who created or last modified Deny Page content and when the change was made.
This can make it easier to identify recent changes when troubleshooting a Deny Page.
WebAdmin Themes
Additional WebAdmin themes are available.
Where enabled, these can be changed under:
My Account > Preferences > Settings
The appearance of WebAdmin may also differ between Organizations where separate Organization themes have been configured.
